The Gorge itself is magnificent and the drive up through the Gorge is well worth doing as the views from the top are spectacular. One strenuous walk is to go up the 322 steps of Jacob’s Ladder to Pavey’s Lookout Tower. Gough’s Cave and Cox’s Cave are both renowned for their sheer scale and glorious calcite formations. There is a shop/producer in the heart of the village selling Cheddar cheese which is worth going but otherwise the village is not that picturesque.
